Terrorism Travel Insurance Cover

  • Cancellation Cover up to £2000

If your holiday destination is affected by an act of terrorism before you depart and you no longer wish to travel.  (Your trip must be due to commence within 42 days of the terrorism and your pre-booked holiday accommodation must be within 40 miles of the terrorism).

  • Curtailment Cover up to £2000

If a terrorist act affects your holiday destination whilst you are there and you wish to return home early. (Your pre-booked holiday accommodation must be within 40 miles of the terrorism).

  • Emergency Medical Expenses up to £1 million
  • Evacuation and Emergency Temporary Accommodation up to £1000
  • Travel Delay up to £200
  • Personal Effects up to £1500

What constitutes an act of terrorism?

An act of Terrorism means an act which either:

a) has been declared as an act of Terrorism by either the UK Government or the government of the country where the act occurred; or

b) where in the event of a delay in declaration by governments, an act which we believe should be covered under this policy, including but not limited to the use of force or violence, of any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organisation(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological or ethnic purposes or reasons including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public, in fear for such purposes. Where we exercise this discretion we shall do so acting reasonably with the information available to us at the time.

Are there any distance or time restrictions?

Yes. Cover is provided for the cancellation or curtailment of your trip if your trip is scheduled to commence within the immediate 42 day period of the Terrorism occurring and, the location of your booked accommodation is within 40 miles of the location of the Terrorism.

Please note:  no cover is provided for any trip in, to, or through; Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, North Korea, Cuba; or any country or area where the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against all but essential travel or, against all travel.
