Built centuries years ago, this impressive Suffolk estate was refurbished in 2017. Designers were able to restore its elegance while seamlessly incorporating modern updates – a dream come true, as far as we're concerned. We love all the space here (personal and otherwise). Sitting pretty in 1.5 acres of informal gardens, groups can gather for meals on the patio courtesy of the gas barbecue as kids run free on the vast lawn. Stroll the ground to discover flowerbeds bursting with bloom and views of nearby Orford Castle. The large, eat-in kitchen opens up to the garden, with glass doors folding back completely. Or, choose to take dinner in the formal dining room, perhaps cooked on the traditional Aga in the kitchen. A handful of different living rooms range from the grand lounge set around a wood-burning stove, to cosy hideaways packed with books and board games. The bedrooms are a delight, but our favourite has to be the book-lined master that feels a little like sleeping in a library. Orford town is minutes away and the magnificent Suffolk coastline isn't far – perfect for day trips. But we'd be just as happy to play croquet in the yard, stroll through the gardens, read a book by the fire, and lounge in the billiard room.
