Our hotel was on the corner of Hyde Park, the tube station, and great shopping. We were busy every day, and had plenty of time for our own individual excursions of shopping,restaurants, museums,religious worship,and fine theater. All of the sights were interesting and varied,and we had no need to drive. Unqualified recommendation!

Britain Sampler
Britain SamplerWell organised tour with a great guide in Damien. I have Coeliac disease and so found all the hotels we stayed at accommodated for that. I informed them myself mind you. Communication is not their strong point except for Damien who communicated clearly and easily. Not every place we visited had food options for me so be prepared if you have food allergies. Accommodation was basic but every where was close to train stations or main attractions. Bus was comfortable for traveling in. Enjoyed so much of where we visited including Bath, Llangollen, Liverpool and London. Edinburgh was brilliant! I had an extra day so I saw more than the tour does in London. Good itinerary except for Gretna Green which I thought was overrated and Stafford upon Avon wasn't that great either but that's my view. It is still a good tour and like everything has its hits and misses but with my group being young kids to older adults (60+ year olds) everybody could manage.

The tour guide and bus driver were excellent. They worked hard to ensure we were comfortable and safe for the duration of the trip. If you are planning a tour like this please keep in mind the schedule is tight (and you are very dependent on your fellow travelers). The itinerary requires a significant amount of bus travel, strict adherence to scheduled departure times, and the optional experiences take up a majority of "free time" you might use for deeply exploring these incredible locations. The hotels are 2 and 3 star accommodations (vs. 4 and 5 star) and it was difficult (but not impossible) to resolve issues with the hotel rooms (a few of our rooms had some serious issues with mildew, we eventually resolved). The great benefit of this kind of tour is gaining a better understanding of the culture and the country so that the next time we travel to the UK we will know where we want to go for a deeper experience (the Highlands were incredible). Plan on spending a significant amount of time on the bus and enjoy the trip for what it is (a very intense, and broad brush experience) and you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a deep dive into specific locations or events this may not be the tour for you. READ the FINE PRINT very CLOSELY. If something happens do not expect to get a refund, unless you have meticulously adhered to the fine print in the agreements. Trip insurance can help, but there are multiple, different types of insurance and you may think you are covered, but end up holding the bag if something happens. Optional services (like airport transfers) are available, but you may want to explore transportation options available on the local market. We were able to save a significant amount of money arranging our own airport transfers. Learn what you can about the local transit system as that is going to be the most efficient way to move around the major cities. If you are traveling internationally, be prepared, arriving before check in means you may be sitting in the hotel lobby for hours (most hotels will hold your luggage if you are up for some early exploration), if your departure times are early, you may want to consider hotels closest to your departure airport on the final night. If you have the time and desire to see more, you may want to consider extending your trip for a few days in the beginning or end, so you have plenty of free time to see the things you might miss on the tour (We had a great afternoon at the Tower of London because our hotel room wasn't available). I will likely book this kind of tour in the future if we are traveling to a place we have never visited before. Also, be prepared for the potential exposure to your fellow travelers. Even if there is no "mask" policy, it might be smart to wear a mask (and have lots of hand sanitizer around) for the first few days because a single traveler with a cold (or worse) can make the last days of your trip miserable. Don't be shy with your fellow travelers (enjoy the company and share your comfort levels) and let the Tour Director know if you are experiencing discomfort. Some things might be "fixable" if you speak up early.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. There were a couple of small hiccups, nothing is perfect, but our guide and our driver did a fantastic job of making the experience fun and meaningful. The only thing I would flag is that the group size is a bit large - we were 46 - which can sometimes make for slower travel. Otherwise, absolutely wonderful!
